Our Team

We have a small yet extremely dedicated team driving our operations.

CEO                                               Nick Holland

Nick Holland has a Bachelor of Laws, Monash University, a Bachelor of Science, Deakin University. He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and in 2015 completed the Business of Entertainment, Media and Sport at Harvard University Business School.  Prior to joining the E.J. Whitten Foundation he used his legal, business and sporting administration skills in leadership roles at Athletics Australia where he was part of the group that developed the International Nitro Athletics series with Usain Bolt. At the Australian Sports Commission he was a Lead of the Sports Governance and Business Development branch, he was the CEO of Professional Footballers Australia, and a senior lawyer working in sport, media and employment law at national law firm Holding Redlich. Prior to that he had a 179 game career as Vice Captain of the Hawthorn Football Club, winning the Hawthorn best and fairest (2000), AFL Rising Star award (1995), leading goal kicker (1998, 2000) and representing SA in state of origin (96, 97, 98, 99) and Australia in the 1998 International Rules series.  

Executive Director                  Mr. Ted Whitten Jnr.

Edward John (Ted) Whitten is currently the Executive Director of the E.J.Whitten Foundation having been appointed to a full time role in 1996.  Prior to his appointment Ted headed up the Foundation in a part time pro bono capacity and worked on building prostate cancer awareness and the profile of the Foundation to make it the success it is today.

Ted brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked for multiple organizations in senior management, sales and public relations giving him the broad skill set necessary for a not- for-profit charity.

Ted has made a significant contribution to the research of prostate cancer and men’s health awareness, with the Foundation raising over 14 Million dollars whilst under his watchful eye and with countless men attributing Ted and the Foundation’s work for the early life saving detection of their prostate cancer.

Ted is very passionate about the Foundations future and ongoing success, he is committed to represent the Foundation and uphold its strong messages connecting with Foundation supporters and the broader Australian community. Ted was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Monash Medical Foundation for his philanthropic work in the field of Prostate Cancer Research & Awareness. 

In his spare time, Ted loves to keep active with golf, swimming, and bike riding and has a passion for thoroughbred horse racing and travelling.

Finance                                        Brett Anderson

Brett Anderson has a Bachelor of Business (Banking & Finance), is a registered BAS Agent, and has a FCA Accredited Cert IV in Finance (Bookkeeping). Brett has 15 years financial market experience (banking & fixed income markets) and 9 years of running his own hospitality business. Brett undertakes the Foundation’s bookkeeping services on a part time basisin conjunction with managing his First Class Accounts Franchise.

Community Programs               Glenn Findlay (The Kinetica Group)

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin, Glenn Findlay has worked with General Motors, GE Capital and Tennis Australia, where he managed global and domestic sponsorships. In 2015 he co-founded Kinetica which is a strategic advisory and implementation business focused on the health, sport and community sectors. Glenn, through Kinetica, oversees the Foundation’s community and Indigenous men’s health programs, “Time to Test” and “Wellah Fella”

Rebekka Mellor is part of the Kinetica team providing strategic advice and assisting in implementing our Time to Test and Indigenous men’s health community programs.

Compliance & Company Secretary                   Ross Hughes

Ross Hughes joined the E.J. Whitten Foundation as one of the two original trustees.  Ross was previously the General Manager of Marketing for Prixcar Services based in Altona North, Victoria.  Previous to that Ross was the Managing Director of Autocare and the General Manager/Company Secretary of Nippondenso Australia for 14 years.  Ross is registered with the Chartered Institute of Company Secretaries and a registered tax agent. Ross undertakes the company secretary role and compliance of the Foundation on a voluntary basis.

EJWF Prostate Cancer Research Centre Director      Assoc Prof Nathan Lawrentschuk

Nathan Lawrentschuk is the Director of the EJ Whitten Prostate Cancer Centre at Epworth Healthcare- an exciting initiative to progress cancer research. He is an Associate Editor of the BJUI and Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Supplement for the BJUI and he has over 400 peer-reviewed full journal article publications and ten book chapters and reviews for over thirty scientific journals as well as serving on multiple Editorial Board of international journals including Nature Reviews Urology. In addition to his public positions at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute and the Austin Hospital and has private practice at Nth Melbourne.

Monash University Research Director                            Professor Gail Risbridger

Professor Gail Risbridger gained her PhD in Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Currently, Prof Risbridger holds the positions of Deputy Dean (Special Projects), Research Director of Monash Comprehensive Cancer Consortium (MCCC) and Chair, Faculty Research Centres & Institutes Committee as well as advisory roles in Andrology Australia and the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men’s Health. She is one of Australia’s leading prostate cancer researchers and has authored >200 publications. Her awards include an International Fulbright Senior Scholar Award, British Endocrine Society Asia-Oceania Medal and Honorary Life Member of Endocrine Society of Australia.

Our Board

We have a very stable and passionate board that brings sound governance, strategic planning and reporting expertise.

Chair                          Mr. Peter Filipovic – CEO Carlton United Breweries

Peter is the CEO of Australia’s leading brewer, Carlton & United Breweries. He has been with the company for more than 20 years in various roles including Sales Director and Commercial Finance Director. Peter holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Economics (Accounting) from Monash University, and is a Chartered Accountant.

Director                   David Canny – President of AHA VIC

David is the President of the Australian Hotels Association Victoria, which oversees the hotel, pubs and clubs industry in Victoria. From his AHA role David brings a wealth of government relations, strategic planning and community experience to the Foundation. He also provides excellent small business knowledge through his ownership, with his wife Dani, of the successful Red Lion Hotel in Ballarat and the Montague Hotel in South Melbourne.

Director                   Kylie Rogers – AFL General Manager – Commercial

One of Australia’s leading commercial and media executives, having worked at Network Ten for 17 years in a number of roles, including National Commercial Director, and National Head of Generate, the network’s in-house content, strategy and integration agency. Rogers joined the AFL in December 2017 from Mamamia, Australia’s largest women’s media company. As Commercial Director and then Managing Director, she oversaw significant growth and profitability for the organisation in Australia and internationally. AFL Commercial Operations is responsible for the Corporate and Consumer Business Divisions, which included AFL membership, membership shared services, ticketing, licensed products, events, corporate hospitality and sponsorship and partnerships, which generate total AFL non-broadcast revenue of more than $200 million a year. 

Director                   Craig Hutchison –Managing Director, Pacific Star Network and Crocmedia,

                                  Journalist, AFL Broadcaster, TV and Radio Host, NBL Owner/Director 

Craig Hutchison is an Australian, Melbourne-based businessman and broadcaster. As co founder and chief executive of Crocmedia and Chair of BallPark, he employs over 150 full and part time staff across the country in areas such as radio syndication, TV production and other content; sponsorship and partnership management; events, talent relations and management, and brand experience in the sports entertainment space.
Crocmedia is an AFL and FFA radio rights holder and broadcasts AFL Nation to over 100 stations around the country, one of 30 plus radio shows produced by the business.
He hosts one of the most watched Australian Football shows on TV, Footy Classified and radio brands owned by Crocmedia such as Off The Bench.
 
Hutchison brings a wealth of media, sponsorship, broadcasting and event management skills to the board of the Foundation.

Director                           Mr. Iain Findlay – Consultant Govt Relations, Sports Tribunal Advocate 

Iain has a diverse background including working with the Victoria Police for 20 years and he served with the Australian Army in Vietnam (1968-1971).  Within the corporate sector, Iain has operated in senior management roles with industries including; construction, travel, conference event management and professional services for the past 15 years with BDO and Grant Thornton (Business Development Director).  Iain is also a highly regarded member of the AFL/VFL Tribunal officially appointed as a player advocate (30 years). Iain is very passionate about the men’s health cause and brings strong government relationships and corporate partner relationship experience to the Foundation. 

Director                            Mr. David Elia – CEO Host Plus

David brings an impressive list of credentials to the board with his current role as Chief Executive Officer of one of Australia’s leading superannuation funds HOSTPLUS.  HOSTPLUS is the national industry superannuation Fund for workers and employers in the Hospitality, Tourism, Sports and Recreation Industry.  The Fund has in excess of $33 Billion in Funds under administration and over 1 million members.  He is also a current Director of the not for profit organisation, Fund Executives Association Ltd which is dedicated to supporting the professional development of leaders in the superannuation industry.  David’s career also spans previous employment with KPMG and Superpartners Pty Ltd (formerly Jacques Martin Industry).  He is a qualified chartered accountant and completed his degree in Economics at La Trobe University as well as a Post Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Financial Services Institute of Australia.  Further he is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed various business and management courses at Harvard Business School and Mt Eliza Business School.

Director                      Mr. Neil Grant, Executive Wine Consultant TWE

Neil joined the board of the E J Whitten Foundation in February 2007.  He has a strong background in leadership, sales and brand development. He was appointed by Foster’s in 2003 to lead sales in Victoria and Tasmania. Neil then became National Trade Relations Manager for Foster’s in 2009 drawing on his considerable industry experience and networks.  Previously Neil was Southcorp Wines’ Sales Director and worked for the group for 26 years.  His experience includes leading and managing large sales teams, and supporting the development of Australia’s most iconic wine and beer brands. Neil brings strategic insight experience as well as his extensive networks to the Foundation. 

Director                    Mr. Rob Sinclair CEO and Owner e&s

Rob is the joint Managing Director of his family business, E&S which is a kitchen, bathroom and laundry supplier.  From an early age, Rob was already involved in the business and often helped out in every area of the company from the sales floor to the warehouse. His extensive experience and knowledge of the business are accumulated from the years of dealing with customers and suppliers.  Rob’s involvement with E. J. Whitten is one that is close to heart. In 2006, Prostate Cancer claimed the life of his father and since then E&S has been a strong supporter of the E.J. Whitten Foundation and Prostate Cancer Research and Awareness.

Director                  Mr. John Ballenger – Chief Customer Officer, Converge International

John is the Chief Customer Officer at Converge International. He has held many senior corporate positions in blue chip Australian Organisations.  John was a Director at Energy Australia, held a leadership role at Telstra, the General Manager Wagering at Tabcorp and prior to that National Sales Manager at Mars.
