2017 Chemist Warehouse E.J. Whitten Legends Game
The 2017 Chemist Warehouse EJ Whitten Legends Game was launched today ahead of the Foundation’s blockbuster event taking place on Friday 1 September at Etihad Stadium.
E.J. Whitten CEO, Nick Holland said “the Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with Chemist Warehouse for the 2017 Legends Game. Chemist Warehouse is a great organisation and the brand has strong alignment with the Foundation’s men’s health awareness program.”
The launch saw the return of Jonathan Brown as captain the Victorian Team and Luke Darcy making his debut as captain of the All Stars in 2017
The Legends Game is played each year to commemorate the memory of Ted Whitten Snr but more importantly it is played to promote men’s health awareness with a specific focus on Prostate Cancer, a disease that kills 3,300 Australian men each year
Executive Director and Founder Ted Whitten said “through the Foundation’s Time to Test awareness campaign the Legends Game provides a great platform for men to take a leadership position with their friends and family in regards to their general health and wellbeing. It is fantastic to see that through increased education and awareness men are now encouraging each other to manage their health and are engaging in conversation more than ever before.”
The Chemist Warehouse E.J. Whitten Legends Game is one of the many annual fundraising and awareness events conducted by the Foundation that plays a vital role in the fight against Prostate Cancer.
We are encouraging everyone to come and support on September 1, get your tickets and get to the game for an enjoyable and entertaining evening and to see Legends of the game like Jonathan Brown and Luke Darcy battle out a State of Origin challenge.
The Chemist Warehouse EJ Whitten Legends Game will be broadcast live nationally from 19:30 AEST on Channel 7, 7mate and Fox Footy. Telstra will also stream the match live via the AFL Live App. Last year’s game was watched by just under 1 million viewers nationally making it the 5th highest rating AFL fixture in 2016.
